I really like the pollarded willows. They combine youth and age. The new young whippy branches and the old gnarled trunks contrast beautifully - all well presented in this idyllic scene.
As I think you will remember, I used to live at Highbridge at the coastal end of the Levels.

Thank you Phil, The levels have changed little since your time in Somerset except perhaps for the modern sluice gates on almost all of the rhynes and an increase in visitor numbers particularly to the nature reserves.

Depends which part of the levels you are on, go to Mark village and turn down by the church you then come onto many miles of flat but fairly narrow roads or droves as most them are called.
