Freakier -- um, more evocative -- in the big view. Type Z if you dare.

Great natural shapes and textures. And a small hole, entrance to some mysterious, forgotten realm..

There is almost a n irascible face to be seen, if one wants to see such things in a fascinating, natural shot. I don't.

Thanks, Bob. We can't help seeing things, though. SOme parts of this reminded me of Haida art.

I agree, Marije. Here's what looks like a work of art growing on the side of a tree in a public park.

Glad I'm not the only one that's barking mad.

That was my thought, Jaap, and it's just growing on the side of a tree. And we can see why organic forms have inspired artists.

Definitely worth seeing in full screen. . Fascinating textures, - the hole catches the attention - I keep expecting something to pop it's head out!

Have a good weekend

A fascinating natural abstract John................the detail and textures are awesome and I bet it's very tactile. I like the subtle colours too.

A great find and beautifully taken!

A fantastic find to get the imagination going! At first sight I thought of pahoehoe lava- I just came from watching the Icelandic eruption webcams;-)

Thanks, Gudrun. I hadn't thought of lava (not a lot of volcanoes in the Great Lakes) but I see the resemblance now.
