Newcastle Castle Keep (#1214)

I knew nothing about this building when there and due to the rain, had not explored much around it. Only on later research did I find this was the Castle Keep, built on the site of very much older castles dating back to the 2nd century. Here’s the description of this structure: “..Between 1168 and 1178 the castle was rebuilt in stone by Maurice the Engineer at a cost of just over £1,144.” (see first link).
