Darmstadt Luisenplatz (#0122)

One thing that completely baffles me is that I don't remember Luisenplatz at all. It was built in 1844 and has apparently been the center of the city for decades, but somehow I remember the center of the city as being another and much smaller square a little to the south (see adjacent picture). The column honors Grand Duke Ludewig I.

Near this statue is the city tourist information office, which was exceptionally helpful.
