Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, NV (0705)
Berlin portion of the state park. One of the nicest things about the park is their guiding principle is "arrested decay." They have converted the interiors, but not exteriors, of some of the older buildings into park buildings and minimally stabilized others. The grounds are largely undisturbed, showing quite well the gradual decay of a former mining area. The signs on the buildings also provide a wonderful sense of what the area was like over the years. I've been to the park twice. the first time encountering no other visitors, on this trip encountering only a young family that was visiting.
