Stephensons buses in Newmarket - 23 Dec 2022 (P1140447)

Friday 23 December 2022 (0918) – The Guineas Bus Station, Newmarket occupied by three Stephensons of Essex buses. Seen from the adjacent multi-storey car park.

After the wholesale withdrawal of Newmarket area services by Stagecoach East after 29 October 2022, Stephensons has become more prominent having stepped in to provide replacement services.

The buses are (left to right):

434 (EU10 NVT), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D which was new in August 2010, had arrived on the 0820 service 12 from Cambridge. The rear panel almost hides the bus from this angle.

609 (CY12 EMS), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N280UD about to work the 0920 service 11 to Cambridge. It was new to Express Motors of Penygroes, North Wales in May 2012.

461 (EU60 CBF), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D new in September 2010.

Stephensons now operate the former Stagecoach services 11 and 12 between Newmarket and Cambridge. Service 11 travels via Burwell and a number of different villages (taking 74 minutes) and the faster service 12 which travels via Bottisham (taking 36 minutes).
