Guide Friday HKL 836 in Bourton-on-the-Water – 3 Jun 1993 (194-13A)
Thursday 3 June 1993 – Guide Friday was based in Stratford-upon-Avon and following its success with sightseeing tours in its hometown gradually expanded to provide similar tours in many tourist centres.

HKL 836, a Beadle bodied AEC Regal that had been new to Maidstone & District Motor Services as their SO26 in March 1947, was assigned to the ‘Cotswold Tour' centred on Bourton-on-the-Water.

When my wife and I went on a Guide Friday tour of Stratford, some years ago, it was pouring with rain. We sat on the lower deck of the open top double decker, with the rain pouring down the stairs at the back. The guide gave up using her p.a. system and came and sat with us as we were her only audience. At least we had a lower deck to shelter in!
