Freestyle motocross was the big ring event at this year's Poynton Show. The finale was a leap with three bikes at once. The third bike can just be seen on the right ramp.

Corris Railway No.7 arrives at Maespoeth with a train of mixed stock. This little line is steadily reclaiming a good part of the route that was lost when British Railways closed the line in 1948.

The clock tower and dome make it easy to spot the railway station at Leicester. This is part of the station rebuilding works to the design of Charles Trubshaw that were completed in 1895. It is sadly suffering due to overzealous cleaning some years ago that has seriously damaged the surface of the terracotta.
SA freight

Two class 36-000 diesels work a train away from the docks in Cape Town, South Africa. The South African Railways placed 124 Class 36-000 General Electric type SG10B diesel-electric locomotives in service between June 1975 and 1981.

Thames sailing barge Reminder on the Blackwater below Maldon. Reminder dates from 1929 and is one of seven Thames barges built between 1925 and 1930 for F W Horlock, Mistley. It is now available for charter with berths for up to twelve people.
On the ridge

There are four ridge dragons adorning a former pub/hotel adjacent to the harbour at Brightlingsea. The building is now apartments and hopefully they will survive for many years to come. It would be interesting to discover who made them.

It is almost dark as SY1687 brings a Pingdingshan bound passenger service off the Yuzhou line at the exchange yards at Fangzhuangzhan on the Pingdingshan Coal Railway.

An empty house at Andamooka which is an opal mining town north of Roxby Downs in outback South Australia. Many of the houses here are partly underground due to the fierce heat in summer.

Glazed brick predominates in the entrance to the railway station at Leicester. This is part of the station rebuilding works to the design of Charles Trubshaw that were completed in 1895.
Telephone Building

The Bell-Edison Telephone Building on Newhall Street in Birmingham is a terracotta delight. It was completed in 1896 to the design of architect Frederick Martin of the firm Martin & Chamberlain. Whilst fairly plain at ground level, the upper storeys feature a rich variety of terracotta ornamentation
Alston

Signal box at Alston Station, the terminus of the South Tynedale Railway. This two foot gauge line is built on the track bed of the southern section of the former Alston Line, a standard gauge branch line between Haltwhistle and Alston which was closed by British Rail in May 1976.

Disused control panel for one of the two papermaking machines at the UPM mill at Shotton. This works has since closed and been replaced by a containerboard board plant owned by Turkish company Eren.

Diesel rebuild

TH 103C is a 1960 Thomas Hill diesel hydraulic locomotive rebuilt from a Sentinel steam locomotive (9390 of 1949). Although currently painted in NCB livery it previously worked in Stafford at British Reinforced Concrete. It is seen here shunting at Brownhills West on the Chasewater Railway.

Storage silos at the Tata Chemicals Lostock Works on the edge of Northwich. The end of soda ash problem here was imminent and this is probably no longer in use.
