Adrienne Darly by Luckhardt
Adrienne Darly, born Adrienne Dits (1850-?); Hungarian mezzosoprano.
In Vienna she studied with the teachers Laufer and Proch and at the age of 17 she gave her first concert in the capitol. Next she sang in a court concert for the Duke Ernst von Coburg-Gotha with her teacher Proch as conductor. In 1867 she made her stage debut in the "Theater an der Wien" in Offenbach's "Die Schäfer". This performance was followed immediately by an invitation for a (successful) guest appearance at the "Wiener Hofoper". In 1868 she was engaged at the "Opernhaus von Riga" where she performed the role of Azucena in Verdi's "Il Trovatore", Orsini in Donizetti's "Lucretia Borgia" and Ulrica in Verdi's "Un Ballo in Maschera". In 1869 she made guest appearances at the "Theater von Aachen" together with the famous tenor Theodor Wachtel. The season 1869/70 she was engaged by the "Deutschen Theater" in Amsterdam. In 1870 she married the businessman Kerkovius from Riga and gave up her stage career before it had reached its peak. The just 20 years old singer rejected a three-year contract that was offered to her by the "Hoftheater Schwerin".
On the photo from 1867 she is seen in Offenbach's "Die Schäfer" (Les Bergers/The shepperds).
