Joseph Wolff (1843-1903); German tenor.
In 1873 he made his debut at Cologne as Gomez in Kreutzer's "Das Nachtlager von Granada". In 1875 he was engaged at the Hofoper Berlin and after a short stay at Breslau he was engaged at Hamburg in 1879. Here he made an important career until 1889. His most memorable roles were Fra Diavolo, George Brown in "La Dame Blanche", Chapelou in "Le Postillon de Lonjumeau", Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte", Don Ottavio in "Don Giovanni", Florestan in "Fidelio" and Don José in "Carmen". After completing his engagement in Hamburg he occasionally gave a guest performance. He devoted himself to giving concerts and he gained a high reputation in a very versatile repertoire. He was married to the soprano Marie Wolff-Knauer.

On the photo he is seen in the title role of Méhul's "Joseph en Égypte".
