Marie Geistinger (1833-1903); Austrian soprano. She made her debut in 1850 at the Max Schwaiger Theatre in Munich. She is best known for her performances in the operettas of Johann (Baptist) Strauss. She sang at 4 premières of Johann Strauss' operettas: "Indigo" in 1871, "Karnaval in Rom" in 1873, "Die Fledermaus" in 1874 and "Cagliostro in Wien" in 1875. During the period 1881-1884 she made 7 very successful tours in the U.S.A. She retired from the stage in 1900.
