Marie Wilt by Höffert
Marie Wilt, born Marie Liebenthaler (1833-1891); Austrian soprano.
She made her debut in 1865 as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni. She was a friend of Johannes Brahms and sang his compositions. From 1867 until 1877 she was employed at the Vienna Court Opera where she created the role of Sulamith in Goldmark's “Die Königin von Saba/The queen of Sheba” (1875). She retired from the stage in 1890.
On the photo she is seen as Fricka in Wagner's "Die Walküre".
