Rydal Cave

Rydal Cave
Taking a detour above Ryday Water in the Lake District we come across this wonderful cave. Quite unexpectedly big. I am here near the back after walking along stepping stones through the water.

Rydal Cave is situated on Loughrigg Fell and is actually a man-made cavern, which was formerly known as Loughrigg Quarry. The cave has been hollowed out of a rocky outcrop which overlooks picturesque Rydal Water. Over two hundred years ago, Rydal Cave was a busy working quarry supplying excellent quality roofing slate to the surrounding local villages.

In actual fact Steve, I had originally posted the same shot from my Nikon but again, somehow, the phone tackled the brightness/contrast difference better no matter what I did in my editor. Glad you liked it. - I take phone shots primary to send to relatives and friend easily.

This is a very impressive shot Herb.........you've captured the exposure and shadows perfectly.

I really like how the darkness frames the exit to the cave and just enough of the interior to show the water and the reflection of the trees.

Thanks for this Keith. Another phone capture I am afraid as n the end it out-did my digital SLR for capturing the detail at the cave entrance. My Nikon did a better job of the dark interior though. Great that you liked it enough for another star. My thanks for that.
