Burnham Overy Staithe Windmill

Burnham Overy Staithe Windmill
Another Norfolk windmill that has been turned into holiday accommodation. Built in 1816 and last worked in 1919. It was restored in 1957 with a new cap and sails replaced again in 1981. The PiP shows the mill against the light from the main road towards the coast only about four miles north of here.

It's always nice to see a properly restored windmill and this one looks wonderful against the sky in this beautifully composed shot..!!

Nice one Herb..!!

Yes this one is hardly publicised at all and is barley visible on the maps. It was a real mill however with a series of millers. We only found it by accident as we drove past it. Agreed that a restored mill always looks good.

I've seen many windmills restored as houses but not many with caps and sails. Nice.

It is simply superb. Windmills always seem so romantic….like archaic bits from long gone times.
Lovely photo, Herb. Happy Sunday

We just don't want to lose them Diana. I think Holland has done a better job of preserving them though. Cheers for the call.
