I've never been to the Channel Islands but great pics like this make me want to go!

My pleasure to share such delights Pete. Sark was also very good but I only explored a small part. Also Gudrun above has some great shots of Guernsey in his collection and so a visit is essential. EasyJet do a good deal to there but I think accommodation might be expensive? We went via Ellen Smith tours.

Guernsey has a lot of self catering accommodation.
Prices vary greatly - bank holidays and summer holidays are very expensive but May before the bank holiday was reasonable.
Public transport on Guernsey is good and not too expensive, with bus stops convenient for the coast path.
Boats to Herm/Sark take only 20/ 45 minutes, so it's easy to do day trips.
