A visit to the KWVR (Keighley & Worth Valley Railway)

A visit to the KWVR (Keighley & Worth Valley Railway)
My 2010 ‘Yanks’ photo posted a couple of days ago, reminded me that I had not posted any of the locomotives on here. I shall try to make up for that now.
We are just outside the village of Oxenhope and stood on the grass banks waiting for this train to pass us. It is the Class 4, 2-6-4T, 80002 with its special name for this occasion of ‘The Winton Train Prague-Harworth’. It has been living at the KWVR since 1969 but in 2013, it was withdrawn from service now being on show at Oxenhope for static viewing.
See PiPs for more views. The station view is Oxenhope.

Enjoy full screen, enjoy the weekend.

Nice series Herb. The KWVR is a perfectly preserved branch line.

Hi Herb
I like this picture very much!
There are not so many places on this line which give a clear view of the locomotives in between stations, but you have certainly found one here!
Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

You are right Peter. We had arranged a walk around here and by chance we came across a section that parallel the line. Glad you liked it.

Enjoy the weekend. Herb

Your territory Gordon. We have not been up there for a good while. It was easier when we had the caravan and stayed up that way. Glad you liked the series.

Best Wishes. Herb

Super shots Herb. I was intrigued by the Prague bit, which encouraged me to look it up. What a long journey the train had and a wonderful tribute to the wartime efforts of Sir Nicholas Winton, for his part in saving refugee children from Czechoslovakia, during the war. Thanks for sharing.

Best wishes, Rosa.

I did wonder if anybody would look him up. He was a real humanitarian for sure rescuing those children. I have not seen any reference however for him using this particular engine. Glad you liked them and my pleasure to share.

Have a great weekend. Herb
