Yanks

Yanks
A trip to the Yorkshire towns of Oxenhope, Harworth and Keighley in 2010 found us in the middle of a 40s weekend at Harworth. As these places with their heritage railway centres were locations for the famous Yanks film of 1978, it was no wonder then that this type of scene was very popular. Looks like these gentlemen had received a warm welcome from the ladies of the town here :)

Enjoy full screen

Such a lovely photo Herb...........the uniforms look very authentic, but I'n guessing that would be due to the film company researchers.

There's an interesting article here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20160819 about how us Brits viewed the American forces that came to the UK during WW2.

Glad you liked it Keith. Something a little different from me. I followed your link and found it most informative. The people in the parade such as these seem to take it all very seriously, even sporting American accents. Was a great little surprise for us and I took lots of photos. I will post another connected to this soon.

Cheers, Herb

So glad you liked this one Rosa. Its been hiding for some time now. Twas quite celebration with singing groups like the Andrew Sisters too. The railways station was full of locals in costume ready to join in the fun.

Best Wishes. Herb

Great that you stumble upon this Peter. A you say, these events are very god to see and attend. I followed your links and was astounded that you should have taken part. That being said, as a biker you looked well into the parts you were acting out. I have left comments on both,

Cheers and enjoy this frosty start of our week here. Herb
