Spring at Pensax in Worcester can be a magical place. There is a lot of agriculture here as can be seen with these fields. The sky clouds were a sheer bonus. Another oldie of 2013 Enjoy full screen.

All aboard this vintage steam train carriage for our trip from Bridgnorth to Bewdley on the SVR (Severn Valley Railway). I know –it’s not exactly a row of benches but it would have been, some years earlier. Enjoy full size and enjoy your week in safety.

Saddleworth church in Winter This is the Parish church of Saddleworth and is called St Chad. It is said that there has been a place of worship on this site since 1215 AD but this present church was built between 1830-1833. This photo, like its accompanying PiP was taken some time back but I can vouch that the scene remains exactly the same today. We had snow here too, some days ago but it is has gone again now. The smoke is rising from the local Inn, called, of course ‘The Church Inn’. Famous for its own unique beers and good fayre in an atmosphere of open log fires. A great memory for me here at a spot I loved to frequent some time back. This bridge led to a small fishing stand but when I was here last, even the bridge had disappeared. However the whole scene demonstrates again the beauty of our Earth and its diverse wildlife which is now in a lot of danger. Let’s hope that the New Year brings new hope against global warming and peace on Earth too. The Pip shows another from the same pond. It just remains for me to say HFF and enjoy the coming New Year

Once when I was feeling more energetic than I seem to be at the moment, I used to walk along the high ridge overlooking Dovestones dam. Up there are a few very interesting rocks and on top of one (Foxstone) we have a man-made cairn. Of course the late light on the rocks make this. A year later I was to revisit the same cairn almost on the same day, in winter snows. See PiP. Taken in 2012/2013 Enjoy full screen .

Greetings from the winters of old. When snow was snow and we could afford to heat up our homes. At one time in our lives, we seriously considered purchasing one of the houses in that remote row, not a million miles from where we are now. We did not, as we thought access to and from the house would be very difficult in Winter but we have seldom had a lot of snow since this shot. Ah well –life goes on. Enjoy the day with the promise of a grand future!

In these days of cold miserable local winter weather here in Oldham, I thought I would cheer myself and my Ipernity friends up with a sunny shot from my holiday in the Caribbean during 2008. Here is perhaps one of its most stunning views showing the high pointed peak of Petit Piton from the small town of Soulfriere . The PiP (adjacent photo) shows a wider view from the sea near ‘Anse Chastanet Beach’ showing Petit Pitons larger twin of Gros Piton to the right. Enjoy full screen and enjoy the day.

A trip to the Yorkshire towns of Oxenhope, Harworth and Keighley in 2010 found us in the middle of a 40s weekend at Harworth. As these places with their heritage railway centres were locations for the famous Yanks film of 1978, it was no wonder then that this type of scene was very popular. Looks like these gentlemen had received a warm welcome from the ladies of the town here :) Enjoy full screen

My 2010 ‘Yanks’ photo posted a couple of days ago, reminded me that I had not posted any of the locomotives on here. I shall try to make up for that now. We are just outside the village of Oxenhope and stood on the grass banks waiting for this train to pass us. It is the Class 4, 2-6-4T, 80002 with its special name for this occasion of ‘The Winton Train Prague-Harworth’. It has been living at the KWVR since 1969 but in 2013, it was withdrawn from service now being on show at Oxenhope for static viewing. See PiPs for more views. The station view is Oxenhope. A December 2011 cruise around the Canaries brought us to the Spanish paradise holiday destination of Tenerife. After driving up through the rain forest we reach the arid moon-like plateau. As you can see a place of mysterious colour and wonder caused by countless eruptions and larva flows. The whole island is dominated by its still active volcano, Mount Teide at 12,188ft . Its summit is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic . Its most recent eruption occurred in late 1909 from the El Chinyero vent on the northwestern Santiago rift In front of us is the strange pillar Roque Cinchado at 27-metre high, composed mostly of volcanoclastic sedimentary rock layers. Its upper layers have been intruded by two sills of lava, which have made the upper part of the pillar more resistant to erosion. For the more adventurous the peak can be reached by a cablecar, a trip that one day, I still hope to do. Enjoy full screen

A day trip on the Island of Grand Canaria in 2011 brought us to the edge of these dunes. We are quite near the sea here but my photo conveys more a sense of the Safari Desert perhaps. There are signs of tourist having explored the sand giving us scale perhaps but I much prefer the rippling virgin surface here. Enjoy full screen
