Knaresborough

Knaresborough
A first little trip of the year takes us to the small market town of Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. A cloudy start as we stroll along the beautiful river Nidd to and past the wonderful railway viaduct. We are on the steep path to the castle here.
Knaresborough is a very old town and is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Chenaresburg. Its castle (which I hope to show you later) is Norman and now belongs to the Queen.

Enjoy full screen.

Yes, a special birthday trip for me. We have not been there before so just had one night. A wonderful place. The weather was not bad but this place could be even better in the golden hour and with mist on the water. ~ I am nearly certain that I have seen a photo from up here, from you but try as I might, I cannot now find it across your sites -perhaps you can send me a link if you have it. (or I might have imagined that?)

Thanks Jaap. Yes, I wanted to erase them :) I did take others without the cars but this showed the best view overall.

A fine shot Herb, I have many shots on here of this wonderful view as it is a place we visit and pass through often on our travels

Thanks for this Greg. A great place for sure. Just seen some of yours, which I will comment on. Since it was Easter holidays here the road car-park on the left leading to Mother Shipton's Cave was packed.

Very nice Herb. It just misses a train on the viaduct... :-)

Thanks Peter. I did get some with the train too but from a different spot which was not quite as photogenic as this. Have posted one for you now -next photo.:)
