Seen in the old town of Chania on the Island of Crete. There are many narrow alleys and streets like this here giving the whole place a medieval effect. One might wonder about the purpose of the barred windows here on your rented room !

Probably not for everyone Herb'... but lower market places like this will maybe suit younger packpackers' and the like... makes for a 'good photo' though'.. I like poking around these back alley's.

Beautifully exposed Herb..............and the light is lovely. I really like the look of the peeling paint, disintegrating plaster and the general look of seediness and disrepair.............my kind of place (but only for photography).

The light plays a big part here my friend, as does that big pipe thing coming though the door -strange! All looking a bit seedy as you say but we see here the real Chania, I suspect. Good that you enjoyed it too.
