A Saturday run

A Saturday run
A warm Spring-like day brings me back at the far end of the series of reservoirs starting with Dove Stones. Here just a few hundred metres from the top of Greenfield reservoir we are looking up towards the Trinnacle rocks. The runner is a thing one sees quite often, as these fell-runners often do a large circuit here - through this narrow valley up to the high rocks and onward along a high ridge path. As you can see with the bright sun just lifting its head over the top left rocks, the lighting was challenging.
Enjoy large

Lovely light and streaks of cloud, Herb!

Hi Diana, another glimpse of my local walking area here. The main cloud streak is in fact a aeroplane vapour trail. Landing planes fly over here all the time, usually much lower, on their way to Manchester airport as this is a favoured approach to runway 23 (From North/West to South/East). This vapour trail is one from a much higher set of planes that also goes over here, quite often on their way from/to the US to Europe and also from North to South Britain. - You also see here the light rays caused by the powerful sun down the steep valley, highlighting the runner.
Glad you liked it.

Light is everything and I was pretty happy to get this something right. In reality, it looked better than my photo.

Ulrich, this area I see every day from my house windows. I realise that I am lucky to have such countryside so close. This spot is a 5 mile car-ride and then 45 minute walk from my front door.
Glad you like it too.

Definitely challenging light Herb...........but it obligingly lit up the area was running through which is very handy. I like the curve of rocks around the reservoir and the hazy sky too.

Very nicely done sir!

Thanks Keith. Yes, I have stood here quite a few times and the lighting is always from the wrong direction. That is a great pity as it looked quite good to the eye. As you say it did oblige me in the end, shining down the valley onto the runner. The water you see, is not the reservoir but a small dammed part of this higher river. Behind me is the remains of much quarrying and so I think this dam had something to do with that.

Ho Toz, the view from the rocks is stunning as seen in the PiP of one of my previous climbs up there. I used to test myself ,-up to last year, on scrambling directly up the right-hand steep hill you see here as fast as i could, from here to the top but my last try took two days to get over the attempt! Getting old you see! Thought better of it this year :)
Enjoy the sun and warmth this week my friend, Herb
ps -just realised I did not have a PiP here, just the link in my description. Now amended!

The light is beautiful Herb and I love the PiP!! Not you having a run then!? The camera wouldn't like it I suspect ;-)) Cheers, Rosa.

Herb Riddle club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne club
Hi Rosa, it was a nice short walk here, with my wife. The light was lighting up the valley bottom, runner and stream. No-way I would be running up there. There is in fact a waterfall, higher up here and I have taken long exposures of that last year. Will have to find them :) Glad you liked the PiP, again taken a couple of years back.
