Grinton Moor wildlife

Grinton Moor wildlife
A carpet of purple which for me is a real pleasure to roam though. Taken on the moor above the tiny Swaledale village of Grinton near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales. The sheep is actually a 'Swaledale' well know for their ruggedness and found throughout the mountains and moorland of Britain. No doubt on its way to join its close-by friends and relatives.

This reminds me of the song called 'Will ye go lassie go'. Lovely, blooming purple, heather

Hi Amelia and thanks for your visit and comment. I had written a detailed description here too but I had obviously not pressed the save button too.Corrected now! I know this famous Scottish song too and yes, this could be Scotland too.

...interesting shot: lavender hues and textures; juxtaposition of lavenders and greens ... and a minimalist lonely sheep ... all nice ...

Hi Jaap, thanks for another visit here. You know, I never really know if my pictures are on this Ipernity Explore as unlike Flickr Explore there is no notification of such. Only by continual searching of Ipernity Explore or a comment like yours does it come to light. My grateful thanks and a reminder that I must vist 'Explore' myself more often too.

Hi Herb,

Really nice colours, and the sheep makes a great focal point to the composition. Of course Welsh sheep have white faces...!

Best Wishes

Good to see you again Peter. I think you are right about the composition. There is something about sheep wandering around in field and mountain that I have always found attractive. Maybe its there quite contentment and lack of aggression. Of course, Welsh sheep are special too, especially their lambs! Saw some brown spotted sheep the other day!
