Panic Buying
I'm ashamed to say that some folks in the UK have been panic buying, and the supermarket shelves are empty of toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, antiseptic hand wash etc. As you can see we have only bought 64 rolls of toilet paper. ;-))

Sadly though, the story behind it is true ;(
Clever shot Amelia, well done!
Amelia club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubOn Friday we went on a canal walk in Chirk, very few people and so not risky. There is a Spar there and Adrian suggested we try in there. My reply was, "if they have loo roll I'll throw my camera into the canal." The shop had plenty so we came away with the smallest pack they had - 16 rolls. Adrian didn't hold me to my threat, so I still have a camera. ;-)
Xata club has replied to Amelia clubWe have a fun story telling that a man dies from the virus and leaves as inheritance 200kg pasta, 26 of rice, salt, sugar, frozzen pizzas, canned food, 77.438 toilet paper rolls and not a dime in his bank account...
Government assures we wont miss essentials. In my small local store there is everything and people buy normally, but I have been told that in the nearest Lidl many shelves were empty...
Glad you kept your camera, LOL, and I love your processing above.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Amelia clubhave a good weekend, Amelia !
I just read that your government is planning for all over 70ies to self isolate for a full 4 months, so you might have to stock up or use the newspapers;-)
christel.k club has replied to Gudrun clubAmelia club has replied to PhilDida From Augsburg club has replied to PhilFor 4 servings:
225 g peas, dried
½ tablespoon of bicarbonate
some butter
Salt
Ground Black pepper
(if desired: 1 small handful of fresh mint, 1 clove of garlic and / or 2 Tbsp crème fraîche)
Cover the peas with three times the amount of cold water, stir in the bicarbonate. Soak for 4 - 12 hours. Rinse three times with cold water.
Place in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Simmer on low heat for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
When the mushy peas have a lumpy consistency (almost without water) fold in a little butter, salt and pepper (crème fraîche, mint etc.) and enjoy. ;-D
Gudrun club has replied to Amelia clubSchöne virenfreie Grüße!
The phenomenon of "panic buying" seems to exist worldwide...
Could not have said it better myself .. www.picuki.com/media/2263537595625905762
Best wishes ... Steve
"On a business trip to Germany a taxpayer purchased one million toilet rolls. On returning to the UK the sole consignment of toilet rolls were sold to one individual for a profit. The profit made on this large quantity single purchase and resale item was ‘an adventure in the nature of trade’. The case was decided on the fact that the purchase was not made for own use or investment purposes."
These days, the purchase might well have been intended for his 'own use'?
Luckily it seem to be settling down a little. I guess the hoarders have ran out of space! =D
