Hi, I was going to extend my membership today but find there is no option to use a credit card. I will never have a paypal account and have no wish to attempt to use a bank transfer. When will credit cards be accepted again, my subscription has until June before it expires. If there are no plans to allow credit card use by June I will need to start looking for somewhere else to share my photos before then. I certainly do NOT want to leave Ipernity but this may force me out!

Hi Adrian,

Ipernity was programmed in 2013 with version 5.4 of the PHP programming language. This is how we members bought the website. Unfortunately, PHP 5.4 is considered obsolete in the meantime. For security reasons, payment service providers now only work with programmes programmed with PHP 7.2 or higher.

Since it is impossible to update the more than 20,000 html files that make up the ipernity website line by line, it is unfortunately not possible to connect to credit card service providers at the moment. Of course, we aim to re-implement the credit card option as part of the planned reprogramming. However, this is so extensive that it will certainly not be ready before June. Details can be found in the Club News of December 31, 2020 and in the discussion below that blog.

The reason for the missing credit card option is not a lack of good will, but of a technical nature.

If the options currently offered are not sufficient, you will unfortunately have to go the way you mentioned. However, we would very much regret it.

That makes me very sad, I really wish to stay with Ipernity as there is nothing else like it out there but if there is no way to pay I don't think I will be the only one forced to leave, at least 50% of my friends will have nothing to do with paypal. I hope Ipernity can survive this as I see a mass exit happening.

Perhaps StoneRoad2013's suggestion (below) will work for you. I have done that for people here as well. So maybe one of the other 50% of your friends could help you out?

As a private association, of which you are a member just like us volunteers, we unfortunately have no investor in the background to advance us the capital for reprogramming. Our only chance is solidarity.

In the more than three years that ipernity has been owned by us members, there has not been a single irregularity with Paypal. There are more than 1,500 transfers through it every year. You too have paid via Paypal without any problems several times. In this respect, we are irritated why it should suddenly be problematic. All in all, we can only state that in the three years of more than 5000 payment transactions, there has not been a single problem.

We do not understand why payment by bank transfer should not be possible. This is done by 5% of all club members without any problem. Bank transfers are one of the safest money transfer methods in Europe. And Crédit Agricole de Paris is a reputable bank.

What is your problem with this?

What I would like to know is the reason why PayPal is out of the question. I have used it for years without problems.

Besides, at least at some countries one can pay via PayPal without need to open their account.

Trouble is it doesn't always give you that option, it is a lottery as to whether you are offered the option to pay by card or not, sometimes you are, sometimes not, its random in my experience. .

It seems to be rather complex issue. Some articles claim it is up to client to decide if they wish to provide option pay without need to have a PayPal account. Some articles claim it is available to all, but only in "trusted" countries by PayPal (Finland is not one of them).

Moreover, it may depend on the credit card provider. I use VISA, and never had problems. But because I live in Finland, I have to use that PayPal account.

My subscriptions are paid via a paypal account for another person - who doesn't have an ipernity account, as I don't have my own paypal account. That works very well

Thanks stone road, I don't know anyone with an account, no one I know will actually open an account any more, they have all had bad experiences with paypal. Thanks you anyway, it is appreciated.

Hi all and thanks, the only options I am presented with are sign in to paypal or create an account. I the past there was an option to pay using a credit card through paypal, that option isn't there now. I have no objection to using paypal with a credit card as I have the buffer of the card company between myself and paypal. The issue I have is I will not create a paypal account, they cannot be trusted if past very bad experiences are anything to go by. That is due to them causing so many problems, financial and stress releated in sorting their mistakes out, last time it took months of stress.
I wont do anything for a while as I have a feeling that this happened the last time I renewed, even though Bernard says that using a card is not possible, I think you may be right and there will be an option to use a card via paypal, they try to make you create an account several times before they will let you pay by card, this has happened before, not only here with Ipernity but on other sites that use paypal too.
Anyway thanks all, I wont give up and will keep trying, will report here if I am eventually successful. Thanks again all, you are very kind
