ipernity: Group: Ipernity User Help Central

Suggestions to improve user-friendliness

Even after using ipernity for more than a year, I find it a bit awkward. Some of this is probably due to the fact that I tend to use it sporadically: intensively for short periods of time with long pauses in between. Here are some things which might be made easier for everyone:
1. The page "Help & Contact" says, "You'll certainly find answers in our FAQ, "How to use ipernity" or in our documentation." The FAQ is hyperlinked, but "documentation" is not. Where can one find the "documentation"?
2. The sticky post "Please read before opening new topic" says, "Check that your problem is not already dealt with on Frequently Asked Questions." and "Check through the topics already posted in this group." However, I do not find any way to search either the FAQ or the Help Central discussions". How is one supposed to check for existing information in these places?

P.S. I initially used some improperly formatted HTML tags above, but find no way to correct them. It would be nice to have a "preview" function to check post formatting before submission.

1) Du hast diese "Dokumentation" bereits gefunden. Es ist die Ansammlung an Artikeln in den FAQs oder bei Benutzern (diese verwenden zumeist das Stichwort "ipernity-howto" - www.ipernity.com/search/blog?w=0&q=ipernity-howto). Hinweis: "FAQ" und "Wie man ipernity verwendet" sind zwei verschiedene Linkziele.

Eine weitergehende, darüber hinaus gehende Dokumentation gibt es nicht, da sie bisher niemand erstellt hat.
ipernity ist ein Club, keine Firma, von der man etwas für sein Geld erwarten kann. Und somit ist auch jedes Clubmitglied mit dafür verantwortlich, das Clubleben mit zu gestalten. Vielleicht ja durch das Schreiben einer Dokumentation. Tut das jedoch niemand, gibt es eben auch keine entsprechende Dokumentation.

2) Diese Gruppe durchsuchen kannst du, indem du oben rechts auf "Suchen?" klickst. Also in der Gruppennavigation, wo du links den Gruppenname siehst, rechts daneben den Tab für Beiträge, dann Diskussionen, Mitglieder, (nur als Admin oder Moderator einer Gruppe dann "Verwaltung") und dann ganz rechts eben besagtes "Suchen?": www.ipernity.com/search/group?opt=1&q=&w=36014&s=0&m=1

Die FAQ ist in einem gleichnamigen Useraccount integriert. Entsprechend kannst du dessen Beiträge so durchsuchen, wie du jeden Account durchsuchen kannst. Das wird im übrigen in der FAQ unterhalb von Punkt 11.1 erklärt.

Hinsichtlich deines P.S.: Es gibt bereits eine Vorschau - Funktion. Diese findest du direkt rechts neben dem "Veröffentlichen"- Knopf. ;-)

I also find the access to help information clumsy. Of course, we inherited this setup and do our best to update it as we can. But the basic layout probably can't be modified.

That said, we appreciate the input.
About 'Preview', it is available for a comment, but not for the opening post of a new discussion. That is something our IT volunteers might be able to look into adding.

I would like to note that one of the reasons ipernity can feel ackward is that it is very flexible for the user. This means that there are often many different ways to do the same thing. Most people find their prefered method and just keep doing that.

I hope that if you need help with something specific that you feel comfortable reaching out for help.
