NINFA

NINFA
This was supposed to be for SC64: “ Sliding Door Moment - Something in your week, which makes a difference. This can be reality, symbolic, or literal. ”
But I guess I didn’t understand the challenge description, I thought it was meant to be the philosophical interpretation of a sliding door moment, not only showing sliding doors which would have been the easy part.
Looking at what is being posted I see I got it wrong for the challenge, JPMarcello is like me, he didn't understand what was asked. So we skip.

++++++

According to Gillian's comment and suggestion to add this to the Sunday Challenge... I did.

++++++

As many of you know Estrelinha, the dog of my life, passed away in January 2022.

After a lifetime with dogs, for reasons of health and responsibility I decided that I wouldn't have any more, except for an old dog from the shelter that nobody wanted to adopt, to give it a good end of life.

Ninfa will be 9 in January, she spent more than 5 and a half years at the shelter. Even the vet in charge doesn't understand why she hasn't been adopted: she's sweet, smart, beautiful and well-behaved.
Here she is, with my hand close to her, on the sofa, enjoying a new fulfilled life.

And I'm fine, because for my balance I need to know that I'm doing good, for people as well as for animals.

Paulo Moreira, Vicente López García, Heide, buonacoppi and 26 other people have particularly liked this photo

The topic description allowed for a literal photo, as in actual sliding doors, representing the scene from the 1998 Movie of the same name.
But yes, absolutely... The term a sliding doors moment became a term popularised in the late 20th-century meaning seemingly inconsequential moments that nonetheless alter the trajectory of future events... Although the term originated from the 1998 film Sliding Doors, written and directed by Peter Howitt and starring Gwyneth Paltrow, the concept was explored earlier by J. B. Priestley in his 1932 play Dangerous Corner. Wikipedia.

a nice dog,I can see that she is older...she is completely gray around the snout.
After my last dog died several years ago, I also decided not to have any more dogs of my own. But every time I meet a dog, my heart swells.

Tout comme toi j'ai compris le sujet d'une manière différente.: un instant décisif, où entre le hasard ou pas, qui détermine un avenir.
Les portes coulissantes étant un exemple et non le sujet...

A "sliding door moment" is when your life could go one way or another based on the kinds of decisions you make. So as I see it, your decision to adopt Ninfa changed both your lives and this would certainly qualify!

This is such a delightful image Isabel.........I love it!

Many years ago we had 2 dogs from the animal shelter (one after the other). It was good for our children to take on some responsibility for an animal, they wanted to take on some of the care (under our supervision) and they did very well. Our son (and his family) now has a dog and also cats.

It is a sad goodbye.

My mother had a dog when I was little and was sad when it died, so she forbade her children to have animals.
As an adult, I now understand the meaning of kindness.
