LAST WEEK 3 PIGS KILLED AT THE VILLAGE AND PREPARED IN TRADITIONAL WAY. HERE IS PART OF THEM. A FIRE BURNS SINCE LAST WEEK AND WILL BE MAINTAINED TILL THE "CHOURIÇAS" ARE DRY ENOUGH.
WE USE CISTUS LADANIFER ROOTS, EUCALYPTUS, AND TOJO (GENISTA).

Well, yes when cooked and / or smoked out in the open but when they take much of the meat and simply boil it up in a cauldron, it really doesn't have much taste at all, especially when they are very sparing with salt and seasonings! And those were times when they were better off, actually having meat to eat!

Posso encomendar um paio? ;-)) Que belíssimo aspecto...acompanhava muito bem o pão de S. Pedro de Solis que recebo aqui fresquinho todos os sábados de manhã...Um tinto de Pias também ia bem. E umas azeitonas...e umas taliscas de queijo de Serpa...
Este devaneio é consequência de estar confinado há já demasiado tempo...

Podes, até mais. Mas... posso sugerir que com a encomenda vá um pão de S. Miguel do Pinheiro cozido em forno de lenha (para provares), e com produtos alentejanos não há Pias que tenha piada, prova pois um Ovelha Negra dezasseis de 2018... por exemplo, mas vinho com estas iguarias só alentejano! O queijo de Serpa e azeitonas caseiras, depois uma bruta folga para digerir !
A vantagem de viver aqui é poder realizar esses devaneios, há muita coisa que não temos mas natureza, ar livre, produtos caseiros não nos faltam.
Entretanto podes encomendar muita coisa pela net... cada vez mais há de tudo e bom.

Obrigado Isabel. Já vi que esse Ovelha Negra, com 16 graus, é aparentado do Vinho do Porto.;-)) Deve ser uma grande pomada. Já encontrei uma garrafeira que ainda tem o de 18 e vou mandar vir umas garrafas...o pão é que é mais dificil...

This looks delicious, Isabel !! I have an English friend who partly lives in Portugal and France and thanks to her I had the opportunity to eat these delicious pigs here as we have some Portugese restaurant in my town. I hope they will re open soon as the food is a feast there !!!

Pigs are not the same you have in the north, here we call them black pigs and they are a lot more tasty. They eat "bolota" in nature, that is the green oak fruit...
Glad you enjoy our food, I guess in your area it is food from north Portugal, different from ours here, but very good indeed !
