Charming Thai girls like Kuai-Tiao Ruea as well
While this noodle soup is based on Mandarin, there are numerous other transliterations based on Cantonese and also Thai which include the Kuai-Tiao Ruea.
Howeverd Kuai-Tiao Ruea are strictly and technically not the same (the latter being essentially ricecakes sliced into strips) and the Min Nans in general still consciously make a distinction between shahe fen and kway teow in their speech. Original ricecakes or its strips are very stiff in texture (even after cooking), making them unpopular with modern consumers. The Kuai-Tiao Ruea is cooked with the blood of buffalo or cow and it is ALWAYS served out from a boat or vessel, even the boat is fixed on ground.
Other kind of noodles are called sen yai which is put into this soup in Thailand.
