Saturday Self-Challenge: Bahnhof
Das Empfangsgebäude des Bahnhofs Hanau-Wilhelmsbad wurde bereits am 10. September 1848 eingeweiht. Es ist damit eines der ältesten Bahnhofsgeäude Hessens. Immerhin benutzten in seinen besten Zeiten bei entsprechend guten Wetter ca. 16 000 Menschen täglich diesen Haltepunkt , um sich im nahegelegenen Kur- und Badebereich und heutigen Staatspark Wilhelmsbad zu erholen. Streng hierarchisch getrennt waren die Bereiche im Inneren: die eine Seite war den Bessergestellten ( 1. und 2. Klasse ) vorbehalten, die andere Seite dem Volk ( 3. Klasse ). Der Empfangsbereich für den Kurfürsten und sein Gefolge trennte diese beiden Teile. Erst 1990 wurde das Gebäude privatisiert und beherbergt heute ein griechisches Restaurant der gehobenen Klasse. Der Bahnhof ist ein Kulturdenkmal nach dem Hessischen Denkmalschutzgesetz und ein Besuch lohnt sich allemal.
