Wie so oft bei solchen Bauwerken ist die Antwort schwierig. Weil nix mehr so ist, wie es mal war. Der Burgfried wurde 1499 gebaut; erstmals erwähnt wurde die Burg 1361. Allerdings verfiel die Anlage über die Jahrhunderte und wurde erst in den 80er Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts wieder aufgebaut. Und erhielt dafür den Staatspreis des Landes Baden-Württemberg für vorbildliche Sanierung. Seit 1987 gibt es dort alle zwei Jahre die Burgfestspiele.
