November bells

November bells
Thanks to aNNa schramm for identifying this small tree as Brachychiton acerifolius, more commonly known here as an Illawarra Flame Tree and native to the coastal areas north of where I live. I confess I had no idea on ID. It is growing in my neighbour's property and, though not shown, there is a carpet of fallen flowers. See also the PiPs.

I is a Brachychiton acerifolius
a large tree of the family Malvaceae endemic to tropical and subtropical regions on the east coast of Australia. It is famous for the bright red bell-shaped flowers that often cover the whole tree when it is leafless. It is commonly known as the flame tree, Illawarra flame tree, lacebark tree, or (along with other members of the genus) kurrajong.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachychiton_acerifolius

I saw it for the first time and became curious. The flowers are beautiful little red bells.
It is also available with yellow flowers!...
I took a cell phone photo of your tree. There is a free app for identifying plants ' Pl@ntNet ' on Google play

Many thanks for this identification, aNNa, I'd say you're totally correct. I probably should have known it, as this is native to forested areas near the area where I live!

Wow. that is beautiful with all those tiny little red bells George. A gorgeous series of images complete with little bee. I found Anna's identification interesting - I can easily see why it would be called a 'flame tree'

Have a lovely evening

What a beauty, George!

It is most likely one of the 31 species of Brachychiton (kurrajong, bottletree), but I cannot fully agree with aNNa's identification using a app from Google Play, as the flower shape does not match.

Sorry, I have to correct myself. It is most likely the species specified by aNNa using the app.
I had the flowers of Brachychiton bidwillii in mind.
