Everyone, thank you very much for all your kind comments. I'm a little surprised by the interest this little bird has created. I think the key point is that the Australian birds are not necessarily related in any way to those with similar names overseas: most Australian bird names were given by explorers and scientists who named them after what looked vaguely similar birds with which they had been familiar. The scientific family names are quite different, eg for Robins - Australia: Petroica or Eopsaltria, Europe:Erithacus, Nth America: Turdus. HFF and best wishes for the weekend to all of you.
