Broken flask

Broken flask
When plastic bottles became more common, it significantly decreased this sight on the streets, and probably also has saved many dogs from nasty injuries and people from flat tires. But after hearing the dangers of micro plastic, I have started to think what is more serious problem in a long run ...

And yes, broken glass does look like ice.

Merci beaucoup, neira-Dan.

Yes, I have heard of that "glass beach" in California, and seen similar shots. The problem would not be so devastating with glass if only people really would recycle and not toss the garbage around. Unfortunately we just never learn.

Just like an iceberg in your main shot and nice bokeh in the bottle!
We don't see so much glass these days as most is collected in bottle banks but some drunken idiots never learn....I agree, these days plastic is the much more pressing problem:-(

Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Gudrun club
Thanks, Gudrun. Most of the people do recycle glass, paper, plastic, metal and somewhat everything also here. But unfortunately there are always few idiots who don't.

You found it or ...?
Anyway it is a great idea and your tought about plastic or glass is the right one IMHO. The little weight of plastic contentors was an argument too, but when we see the results I think it would be more sustainable to avoid plastic.
When I go for a walk I have a tupperware bottle that I refill with filtered tap water, I almost never use bottled water except when travelling in some places like in Marroco where I was last week...

Thank you, Isabel. Yes, I found it, although it indeed has become rather rare these days. And now the broken bottle has been cleaned away.

And same thing with me and my wife. Especially because we are lucky to have so good and fresh tap water here around Tampere region, thanks to fresh water lakes.

Glück und Glas - wie leicht bricht das ...

Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Chrissy club
Danke schön, Chrissy. In this case someone else's misfortune was my fortune. From photographic point of view this is a great subject for what I call as "contextual photography". There the main subject becomes supported with the background that provides the context. And then it is often necessary to get enough depth of field and to use angle that makes clear what is the main subject.

Well, I've thought of lots of uses for glass, but I didn't mention that it could also break. A refreshing change from all the beautiful glass this week, Sami. Trust you to be different. ;-)

Well, accidents can of course happen, especially when peeps are little tipsy. But good manners to clear one's own trash is unfortunately lacking from some individuals.

I agree with you, Sami! There is no floating "glass island" in the ocean! You probably read about this horror: www.cnn.com/2018/04/11/health/sperm-whale-plastic-waste-trnd/index.html
