For '10-Week Picture Projects: Tree parts: Trunk/Branches/Twigs', I found this twig showing how warmth of the sun starts to melt the snow in April. Dirt (speckles) become more visible, and all the dark items that has fallen on the snow, sinks and melts the snow around them.
