There's no spoon

There's no spoon
Picture taken in 2012

This shot is taken with phone camera that has a "slow" enough sensor to create so called "rolling shutter effect".

There is also "banding/flickering effect" intentionally used.

What I did is that I waved the spoon between the camera and fluorescent lamp.

Only the green color is added afterwards to emphasize the reference to Matrix movies: youtu.be/uAXtO5dMqEI

Which of course is sort of a combination of Uri Geller and Magritte ;-)

This reminds me of Rene Magritte's paintings - surrealism .

Great job!
First I wanted to make something Uri-Geller-like. It's the first person who comes to my mind when the spoon is mentioned. But I didn't have a good idea and I didn't have that much time... :-)

I can still remember watching Uri Geller's magic performance from a black and white TV, when I was a child! =D

As far as I know he is still doing perfomances. And he moderates magical programs on TV.

Yes, I noticed that on the Wikipedia article I linked to. Great! This world needs more magicians! =)

Yes! Absolutely! I'm one of them, by the way. I used to do performances in small theatres too. :)

Oh, I don't conjure rabbits out of top hats. I rather do thought experiments with reading thoughts and predicting them :-)

Perfect for the theme, you did well to "resurrect" this photo!

Thank you, Gudrun =)

Please read the caption and notice this is an old upload, and not a contribution to MM2 group. But the theme has always inspired me and I had a personal theme week on spoons several years ago at MyOpera community, which I have also uploaded to here. And spoons have more or less always inspired me.

I saw this in the new uploads and sort of assumed it was in the group because you made that reference to it;-) Spoon week sounds a fun challenge.

I used to have such personal weekly challenges back in 2010-2013. Some of them I have uploaded here.

It is a good way to train the creative mind. When for a week you every day force yourself to come up with something new on a some specific theme, you do sort of "anaerobic or interval exercise" for your brains. Better than 50 images on the same theme, or 365 images for a year. And of course not every week. Only every now and then.

Coming up with something original every day all week long definitely is more challenging than posting 50 pictures you already have in your archives;-) ( Iknow, some really come up with new original photos, but some just dump their stuff...)

Well, I am not criticizing any other ways. Merely suggesting something less demanding than projects, which require long lasting efforts. So, few days in a row, every now and then, can turn out as a good way to make the creative juices flow.

And I am not talking about such "chain letter challenges" where 1-10 friends are challenged to shoot something for seven days and share them on social media. I mean really something personal only, that one don't even need to share.

Some examples: I once had an one week trip to "sepia" (seven B&W photos post processed with sepia tone). Within seven days it is likely to start thinking what really is a good subject to use such effect =)

I'd find it pretty difficult to come up with (for instance) a good sepia photo every day, probably there'd be some less than inpired ones among the 7.

Because the idea is to set personal challenges, then the topics and goals should be personal as well ;-) So, the best is to choose topics what one likes and wishes to learn.

My pleasure, Esther =)

Sorry, the link on that story did not direct where I thought it would. But you (and me) got the story of elephants as an extra! =)
