Fishing on the Wey

I used to go with my great-grandfather when he went fishing at Lathkill Dale near Bakewell in The Peak District but I was too young (5 or 6) to remember what he caught and whether he put it back.
I have a hunch it was trout fishing and that we had trout to eat quite a lot!
