From the newer bridge you get a good view of the town and river as it is much higher than the beautiful old bridge.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Petworth tomorrow, and I hope you find some deer. I have many ornaments and pictures around the house of deer....must be something to do with my maiden name :-)

HFF Rosa. I once got stuck under this bridge in a sailing dinghy as the tide proved to be strong than the wind, the mast was bowing to a crazy shape when luckily a rescue boat towed us off.

I was stationed at Fremington at the time and had sailed up to Bideford from Instow where we used to keep up DUKWs

I remember my first ever visit to Bideford in the 1970's when this old bridge was the only route. Now of course, there is a big new, high bridge, but it cannot beat this old one for beauty.
