Thank you Isabel. I think over the years there have been additions to the church, mostly in the late 18th to mid 19th centuries. Wishing you a good Sunday also.

An excellent example of framing, Rosa. The grave and the cross provide the ideal foreground interest. The field boundaries and the undulations in the land look magnificent in the distance.

The architecture of the church tower is very rustic and charming.

A beautiful pair of images.

Cheers,

Joe

Thank you very much for your kind comments Joe. It is good when we see a good framing opportunity, and churchyards often give them. Cheers, Rosa.

As cupolas go, it's quite sweet but doesn't really add much to the church which would have been better left as it was; but times and attitudes change. Anyway a lovely couple of shots as ever, Rosa!

It's not likely to be removed as it's Grade II listed. You are right, times and attitudes do change.

Like everyone else, I love the way you've framed the view across to the distant fields - and the foreground is just perfect! A great balance of light and shadows too.

Its good to get a closer view of the church tower and entrance in the PiP too.

Excellent work as always!

Thank you very much Keith. It was there waiting to be framed :)
I was fascinated by the mixture of the two very different coloured stones.

Take care and have a good new week.

Two beautiful images. That grave is in a very lovely spot. Gazing over the landscape the occupant knew in life. The close up of the church is very appealing. It's a simple building full of charm.

A very nice final resting place, I wonder which is the oldest the grave or the tree, old graveyards often have a nice display of snowdrops, churches in this area are granite with slate roofs the newer ones with Welsh Slate which can be split into thinner pieces that the local product. A cold windy day the forecast is still for snow, enjoy your evening Rosalyn

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Could be quite close run Peter! There were a few snowdrops in the churchyard, but many more along the village hedgerows. A cold day here but no snow. Have a good new week.

Buena semana Rosa.

Always god to see scenes like this Rosa. The churchyards and burial grounds of our countryside reflect our long histories. I have often taken such pictures too but in the end do not post many thinking that some people may find them morbid perhaps -but not me! Fine church capture too.

Keep safe. Herb

The top most image reminded me the poem in High school -- Thomas Gray.....

...........................

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of pow'r,
And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave,
Awaits alike th' inevitable hour.
The paths of glory lead but to the grave.
