Hi Peter,
I think you could be right! I haven't been over there since this was taken. I think I will wait for Dennis to pass!

Best wishes, Rosa.

This is lovely. The green of the lichen, the rust of the leaves. The trees standing straight and tall. A beautifully captured scene.

OUR OAKS HERE ARE THE BLACK OAK SPECIES.. AND THEY KEEP THEIR DEAD WINTER LEAVES TILL THE NEW SPRING ONES COME !

I was wondering why some trees retain their autumn leaves and others don't and this is what I read - The hypothesis is that retaining leaves until spring could be a means of slowing the decomposition of the leaves (which would rot faster on the ground) and that dropping them in spring delivers organic material, much like compost or mulch, at a time when it is most needed by the growing tree.

Isn't nature clever.

Oooh, this is just lovely Rosa. I love the golden brown leaves and the way you've filled the frame with the beautiful tangled branches. The diffused light is lovely too. A magical shot..!!

Thank you Keith. In winter, any colour we can get in a picture is a bonus. I am soooo looking forward to spring and all the new, brightly coloured shoots :-)

Beautifully captured this splash of colour on this nicely composed winter scene Rosa. Seems to be some Beech trees that retain their autumn leaves through much of the winter.
