Father's Day

My Dad was a pianist too, Rosa, and a very good gardener. Our garden is open today for the Yellow Book. It's not looking it's best because of all the rain we've had.

That's interesting. So many more pianos in family homes back then. Good luck with your open garden day Amelia. I think everyone is in the same boat because of all the rain. I'm sure it will still be a delight to walk around. Best wishes.

Yes that is true Valeriane, especially since my lovely mum died in 2016.

A lovely photo Rosa.................there's something really charming and comforting about old black and white photos such as this, even if you don't know the subjects. i bet it brings back lots of memories.

Another charming photo in the PiP............the boys look like twins.

Yes that is so true Keith. I only found this picture after my mum died and I had so many to go through. I don't remember him so much as thin like this ;-)) He was rarely seen without a camera around his neck! There is only a year between these two brothers. They are both equally bald now!! I have another much younger brother and sister.

Rosa, a great shot for Father;s Day. My dad didn't play the piano, but was from a very musical family, two sisters sang and had a weekly "radio show" for an hour and also sang at different venues. I love music and have sung all my life. played the piano, sang at weddings, church, funerals and IM SO GLAD both our sons are musical , playing piano and different instruments in High School, they are both now in a men's ensemble with C D published / recorded out of Nashville, Tennessee .... our piano still sits in our family room.

You have a talented family Sarah! How lovely to have a good singing voice. All of my family enjoy music and my eldest daughter is a music manager and plays piano and violin. Sophie has a wonderful voice. and is learning the piano....she also loves her horse riding though ;-)

How lovely to feature your dad like this Rosa.
I remember my dad very well - he died in November 1978 aged 77 and I am now a great grandfather to 7 + 1 on the way !!!! I will be 78 in July!

Gosh, almost 8 g-grandchildren....Christmas and birthdays must be expensive! Worth it though I'm sure ;-)

I remember when his friend used to come to our house every Saturday and they used to compose songs and music. They sent many away but never made their fortune through it!
Yes I am more like the Dear side of the family, but the fair colouring of my mum's family.

Thank you Adele. We used to love 'trying' to play the piano. My daughter has my father's violin and of the two she has, much prefers the tone of it. It is a precious picture but my mum was a good cook and he didn't stay this slim for long ;-))

I wish I did as well John! I can't remember ever getting tired of having our photos taken, but two more soon came along in the family so my young brother and sister saw more of the camera then ;-))

A precious remember, a really "dear" part of You, my father died in 2000, too …..

A beautiful photo to remember your father by! My dad was completely tone deaf (he joked that his violin teacher offered him money if he stopped coming to lessons ) but on my mother's side many played the piano well.

Ha ha, that's funny of your father. I wish I had learned the piano. I took both my daughter's to lessons and Michelle also plays the violin and a little guitar.
