Bath ~ Royal Mineral Water Hospital

Bath ~ Royal Mineral Water Hospital
Until 2017 this was a working NHS Hospital specialising in rheumatic diseases ~ The hospital was founded in 1738 as The Mineral Water Hospital, Then, it provided care for the impoverished sick who were attracted to Bath because of the supposed healing properties of the mineral water from the spa. The original building was designed by John Wood the Elder and built with Bath stone donated by Ralph Allen.

Wonderful. Only visited Bath once (1983) but all these streets and buildings have stayed in my noodle!

A fabulous city Andy. Although very Georgian it is also very vibrant and has many small theatres and excellent eateries.

A fine collection of Bath street views Rosa, very nicely done. Visited Bath a few years ago but was not able to stay long enough to properly enjoy the place. Thanks for interesting notes.

Best wishes, Doug

Thank you very much Doug. It's only 30 miles from where I live and I have been going there for years and I still have not seen everything. I haven't seen the word famous Royal Crescent, which my daughter couldn't believe, so she will take me there on the next visit!!

Best wishes, Rosa.

I'm enjoying your series on Bath, I used to visit Bath in 1962 and more recently occasionally too.

I'm glad that you have enjoyed your time there too

As you can imagine, Bath gets lots of tourists in the height of summer and even on the day we visited, there were lots. I'm going again soon, so hoping for a nicer day. ~ Cheers, Rosa.
