After the Rain!

After the Rain!
Gold Hill, Shaftesbury.

I have probably taken more pictures of Gold Hill than anywhere else, but after having lunch with my sister and daughter at the top of the hill on Friday, it is impossible to leave without taking yet another shot!!

Gudrun, , Chris10, Ulrich John and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

A markedly different, 'softer' atmosphere than in full sun.
A very good shot indeed!

You were quick! Thank you Andy. The weather and season makes such a difference to the hill and view. I think that's what keeps drawing me...as well as the cafe and antique shop ;-))

Well, I don't blame you, Rosa. I have only visited Gold Hill, once, and was hooked... one day!! Lovely photo, even if it's a bit damp!.. YS.... John.

Beautiful shot Rosalyn ... reminds me of the old TV advert for Hovis that had the young lad doing deliveries on his bike! ;)

This is where it was filmed. The lad in the advert actually returned and did it all again a couple of years ago....he was a little older and larger ;-))

I did wonder if it might have been the same place, but wasn't sure. As for the 'return' by the star of that advert I'll bet he didn't go up as quick as he did back then. However, on the flip side I'll bet all that extra weight helped on the way down - lol! ;)

Ha ha, well take a look at this link. He doesn't appear until after a minute into the film....and I am not sure that there isn't a bit of trickery involved....you will see at the end ;-))

Fabulous, I really enjoyed seeing that Rosalyn and as you say it looks like there was indeed some trickery involved - lol! ;)

And, it led me to this, which I hope you don't mind me posting:

This has the amazing quality of a painting about it, soft but not out of focus or blurred, wonderful Rosa.

What a wonderful place. And you've photographed it beautifully here.

Nature takes over in wonderful ways here! Grass among the bricks of the road, flowers on the wall. Thank you for adding to my group 'plants vs. structures'.

Would you consider adding this to my group 'been there - wish to go'? I add my comment for that group here in case you do. WISH

Another one for the Hovis advert. It really is a lovely place, Rosa, and you have got the atmosphere of the hill, the houses, the wall and the mossy cobbled street just perfectly.

Thank you for your very kind comments Amelia. Before the Hovis ad it was more well known for being in the first film of Far from the Madding Crowd!

This is an exceedingly good shot of the hill and beyond Rosa. The damp has helped with the clarity.

This is also a beauty of a picture Rosa. Such a nice depth in it... Wow!
I think that there is not much traffic in the street because the stones have so much green between them.
