West Bay is the sandiest beach for many miles either way. Unfortunately the Harbour Authority won't allow anyone on it, because of the state of the surrounding walls.
Outside the protection of the breakwater, to the right, the sea was pretty rough, with waves crashing over the breakwater.

A ship full of people heading to France - a plane full of people heading who knows where - tiny specks in just a patch of sky and sea. Yet we seem able to screw up the whole world by our disregard for its welfare.
This was the nearest I could get to a decent sunset photo. It had looked promising earlier, but as so often happens the Sun disappeared into cloud before it reaches the horizon.
