Gulf Fritillary butterfly in caterpillar stage

Gulf Fritillary butterfly in caterpillar stage
One more photo in Note at Top left

FINALLY a caterpillar !!

Everything has been so sparse and behind this year. This pretty one was on the wall of the garden shed... so I took some photos then put her on a leaf and tucked the leaf safely out of sight of predators.

Rainer Blankermann, micritter, , have particularly liked this photo

WONDERFUL!!!! Look at that cutie pie!!! I just love the extremely fancy hair! :D Are you going to keep it and hatch it into a butterfly?!!! LOL, now that I've been so successful with my Big Fat Piggy 'Pillars, I will try raising any caterpillar I find, as long as I have access to plenty of its food. I was not prepared for the amount of food 49 caterpillars eat...THE OINKERS!!! Every day when I open up their container and air it out and transfer them to a new container, it smells like cut grass in there because that's all they do: mow down the leaves, poop green pellets, and sleep! :D Oh, and moult so they can pay me with lovely little "pompadours!"

No... not this time... there are so few.. I hide it away carefully in the hope that Nature will do a better job than me !

As a kid I used to hatch out Peacock butterfly catrepillars from the garden
