This is what happens when I'm left indoors unsupervised! I bought a cheap secondhand Chinese-made clock from a charity shop a while ago and decided to take it all to bits and make a Flat Lay photo of it. Just don't ask me to put it all back together again :-))) Better viewed large I think.

Taken during a walk last Tuesday morning. There are three artificial islands on the lake for the birds to roost and nest. This is the oldest and largest, the others are very new (only built this year).

Portchester castle is a medieval fortress that was developed within the walls of the Roman Saxon Shore fort of Portus Adurni at Portchester, to the east of Fareham in Hampshire, probably built in the late 11th Century. Today it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade 1 listed building. It has a fascinating history including being used as a military hospital in the late 1500s and as a prison. It was also used to house prisoners of war from the War of the Spanish Succession and from the Napoleonic Wars. I have a small clump of these beautiful flowers in my garden, but they have been almost completely flattened by the recent wind and heavy rain, so I rescued this flowerhead. I then photographed it outdoors using my lawn as a backdrop and added a touch of bokeh and the vignette in post processing.

While I was dead-heading the Coreopsis flowers in my garden yesterday afternoon, I spotted this very tiny Crab Spider nestled in the centre of one of them..........so I had to dash back indoors and grab my camera and macro lens, before getting down on my knees to get a couple of photos. Even with the macro lens, these had to be cropped. PiP1 is another view of the spider. PiP 2 is a quick shot I took with my thumb underneath to show some scale. Thanks for looking!

The pebbles are from Budleigh Salterton beach in Devon. Photographed indoors in natural light using some white card as a background. Adults of the Hornet Mimic Hoverfly can reach 2 cm in length, and it is the largest hoverfly species in the UK. The Hoverfly mimics the Hornet both in size and in appearance, and even makes a similar buzzing noise while flying, but it is absolutely harmless to humans. Taken in my garden yesterday on one of my Buddleia bushes. Both images are cropped as I was using my 40-150mm zoom lens, so I wouldn't frighten it off.

Taken indoors in natural light. I used a sheet of brown card as a background and added a texture and vignette in processing. I'm not overly happy with the reflections on the bottle, but I don't think they detract from the photo too much. Probably best viewed large..........
