Remembrance

This beautifully embroidered poem is part of the Remembrance Day display at a church on Hayling Island, Hampshire. Unfortunately, I have no idea who embroidered it, but I think whoever it was wouldn't mind me posting it here!
The fourth verse is particularly poignant and is used in most UK Remembrance Day services.

Probably from a sheep. Another image from Butser Hill ancient village in Hampshire.
The skull was fixed into the thatch above the door of a roundhouse, probably to discourage evil spirits.

These started off life as part of a plastic wall decoration in a café. After taking a shot of them, I converted to black and white and added a texture to make them look like metal.
