The Apple Store, West Dean Gardens

This rather splendid apple store is in the corner of the Walled Garden. Even in the autumn the gardens are really worth visiting, especially in the sunshine we had at the beginning of the month.
The PiP shows a nice little scene in one of the other corners of the Walled Garden.

Hornbeam Tree branch

Showing the leaves and the distinctive male catkins hanging in tiered clusters.
Male and female flowers are on separate catkins, but on the same tree. The female catkins will appear in the spring.
There is a closer view of the catkins in the PiP.
These were taken in a local cemetery.

Tower House, Old Portsmouth

Looking over the rooftops from the sea walls towards Tower House and it's beautiful "galleon" weather vane.
In the PiP is a view along the new sea defences looking towards the harbour entrance with the Square Tower on the right and Gosport on the left.

One of out local florists was clearing out a window display and I managed to get hold of some of these to photograph. They were a bit battered and shapeless, but I thought I could make something of them. This is the result.
As always, photographed indoors in natural light in my home studio (which doubles as a dining room table). The textured background was added in post production.

Gourds

These small ornamental gourds were found in the walled garden at West Dean Gardens in West Sussex. They were on display in baskets and so I was able to take them out and photograph them on a table.

This was taken outdoors agains a really boring, almost monochrome sky..........so I thought I'd go all in and do a black and white conversion in post processing!
A different camera as well......playing with the bridge camera my wife used to use :-)
