HMS Warrier (1860)

HMS Warrier (1860)
Taken in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Hampshire a couple of months back. She looks splendid in the sunshine.

HMS Warrior is a 40-gun steam-powered armoured frigate built for the Royal Navy in 1859–1861. She was one of the first armour-plated, iron-hulled warships, built in response to France's launching in 1859 of the first ocean-going ironclad warship.

Cheers Herb. The restoration work on the Warrior and on HMS Victory is pretty much continuous!

This is the one ship I didn't get to go on when we visited in 2019. The intention was to go again the next year when the ticket was still valid, but we all know what happened next!

A fabulous picture of the ship Keith. Mine were no where near as good.
Enjoy the rest of your day and have a great week ahead.

You can now go in the Historic Dockyard and look around without having to pay............unless you want to visit the museum, the Victory, the Mary Rose or any other exhibition.

Glad you like this one Rosa.........and thanks.

La photo est trés réussie et le bateau magnifique (La composition est parfaite).En 1859 nous avons trés bien fait de construire ce bateau dont tu parles car la réponse Britannique est trés belle. (Je serais curieux de savoir ce qu'est devenu le notre).. Amicalement. Jean Paul

O.M.G !! That ship must be as big as our Juan Sebastian Elcano. A pride for the British Royal Navy, perfectly preserved. Those ships were so beautiful !

It's quite a size..............but it's difficult to compare the two ships. Both are beautiful in their own ways. I'm pleased you like this image Anton and thanks for dropping in.

Kriegsschiffe finde ich am schönsten, wenn sie nicht mehr für ihren eigentlichen Zweck verwendet werden. Fraglos ein stolzes Schiff, das du uns schön präsentierst!
