Peanut Thief

Peanut Thief
Taken in my garden - shooting through the double glazed window in my living room. We actually use a feeder made for sunflower hearts, as the squirrels manage to chew through anything made from wood, wire or plastic!

Eunice Perkins, William Sutherland, trester88, Berny and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

Oh no, not the thieving squirrels again. After defeating them on our bird feeder they constantly go round in circles around the pole of the feeder collecting scraps dropped by the birds. Our many doves and pgeons try to do the same thing too but Mr squirrel chases them away. As well as all that, the squirrels collect the many horse-chestnuts now dropping from our neighbours giant trees and buries them, all day, in our lawns to be collected later in the year so double digs all around! This one of yours looks quite fat, I wonder if it was a pregnant female. -Our other lawn diggere is now posted on here too.

To be fair Herb, I don't mind them. My garden is pretty wild anyway and a few more holes in the lawn don't make much difference. It's our own fault for feeding them.

I'm going to train them to chase off my neighbours 8 cats! They leave a disgusting mess!

We get the same problem Keith. This feeder looks pretty much squirrel proof though, which is more than any of mine are. Three superb pictures with great detail. Not easy through double glazing! Have a good new week.

Ha,ha..........we stopped using anything made of plastic, wire or wood ages ago! This one is made of steel..!! My garden is a bit wild anyway, so I don't mind them making a mess.

This is a very enjoyable collage, it's amazingly sharp for being shot through a window! Squirrels are adaptable and always up to mischief;-)

Maybe there is a market for squirrel feeders. I find them entertaining too, even if they are nicking the bird food!

I think they're very cute as well Eunice...........but they are an alien species and a lot of people consider them vermin. There's no doubt they have almost completely decimated our native red squirrel population.

It's hardly their fault though, they didn't ask to be introduced to this country and they're just doing what they have to to survive. I'm quite happy to have them in my garden :-))
