Obelisk in Oilseed Rape Field (PiP)
This obelisk stands in private property at the edge of the grounds of Bicton Park Gardens Devon. It was built in 1747 by Henry Rolle, 1st Baron Rolle (1708–1750) as a visual attraction for the gardens. I was only able to get this shot from a nearby road by scrambling up an embankment and shooting over the fence. It provided a point of interest in the field of oilseed rape. I could have done with some clouds too, but you can't have everything :-)
I hope to have caught up with everyone by this evening...........but I have family coming to stay with us on Wednesday for a few days, so I'll probably end up even further behind by the end of the weekend!

Honestly, rape fields were a truly remarkable thing for me to see when I first started looking at pictures on Flickr and then ipernity. They stagger the mind in their endless yellow! So lovely to see, and in this case, how COOL to get that obelisk in there as a focal point! So interesting to see and naturally, it's a perfect, "Keith Burton" picture! LOVE the inset too with the branches forming a lovely frame. I do see how clouds would add even more but both pictures are outstanding so you can be quiet now! :D :D (thanks for the info too, always interesting to read about!)
Oh my, company in a couple of days, won't that be wonderful! I do know the love/not so much love about company...it's so nice to see them but *yawn*...so tiring with the focused attention and needing to be "on" whenever you're in a shared room area! :)
It is grand to have you back. And totally reasonable if you cannot visit or comment on some/most days...it's just crazy how company throws the routine out the window! :D
